Since its inception in 2001, Melbourne Conversations has presented over 300 conversations, with more than 800 guest speakers attracting over 80,000 people from diverse backgrounds and ages.

Topics covered range from the arts in Melbourne to the experience of homelessness to urban design, the nature of our democracy, science and technology, digital culture and population growth. Gender, land rights, human rights, religion, sustainability, climate change, the global financial crisis, terrorism, peak oil issues and international student concerns have also featured.

Melbourne Conversations connect Melburnians to their community through discussion, commentary and participation on vital issues and ideas. We seek to engage with challenging ideas and influence Melbourne’s intellectual culture, creativity, liveability, and sustainability.
